Cognition Intervals: They’re a thing. Iron Will Rogers? Well, he is a thing too & Derek Duval? Maybe more of a machine.

Getting ready to tackle the pave, circa 2008. K dub was a thing too!

If you are new to endurance sports you may have never heard of intervals but I’ll bet you have. Maybe, however, you think that all there is to intervals is burying yourself for a minute or two, recovering, and then doing it over and over and over, until you pass out or the police are called… well those are intervals but there is more to interval training than just that high-end V02 max stuff. For example there are cognition intervals. If you’ve never heard of them, you may be in for a pleasant surprise.

The second ever for Dean Stanton in Port Coquitlam and for me – the first ever!

The Obst family from Vancouver have no doubt done their intervals, as well as eaten their Wheaties, and done everything else right. That’s because this husband & wife team out of Vancouver both won the overall male and female titles at this weekend’s gravel fondo in Port Coquitlam. We have your other winners from the event as well.

Sight set on the world record in 2019

Also in Fitspeek 69 we have our second part of the interview with our local titans of triathlon, Derek Duval and Will Rogers. These guys have been around the multisport scene for decades and today you can hear about their advancements in race-day nutrition as well as their most challenging moments in the sport. Here it all by pressing play below.

When you are ready to toe the line of your first big event, whether that’s a 110 KM gravel fondo, a 10 KM ultra swim, or a half-ironman distance triathlon, Tri*Joy is here to help you out.

Our world headquarters is in Mission, not California. We can meet with you face to face to get to know you and your endurance sports goals. E-mail me at kknnheinze@yahoo.com to book your free consultation and goal setting session.
